COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The 2013 Committee members are:

Alex Radu – Sponsorship secretary
With a BSc and MSc in Horticulture and a MSc in Propagation, I joined Agrovista three years ago as a fruit agronomist. Previously to this, I was a trainee farm manager for a leading wine producer in my home country Romania for two years and I have also worked as a propagation manager assistant for a Berkshire-based soft-fruit producer, which was my first job in the UK. Now firmly focused on the UK, I currently provide agronomy advice to West Midlands and Kent-based soft-fruit and top-fruit growers. On a personal note, I am an avid cyclist and runner and enjoy competing for charities, including Help For Heroes and Macmillan.

Chris Kember - Treasurer
“After completing a Bsc in Commercial Horticulture at Hadlow College I worked for five years for H A Boxall & Son as Top Fruit Manager.
Since leaving there I have spent the last four years establishing a small pick your own enterprise on the family farm. Crops grown include Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, asparagus, runner beans and tomatoes.”

Piotr Bukowski – Polish liaison, visit organiser and guide
I graduated a BSc at the University of Live Science in Poznan, Poland. Following my BSc, I enrolled for a Master degree in Agronomy and Bioengineering, to graduate it in 2005. Ever since I occupied various roles in the agricultural and horticultural sector. A few years ago I joined W&D Riccini Farm as a Farm Manager. The company specialises in the production of top fruits and cherries.

Piotr Ruszewski – Polish liaison, visit organiser and guide
A graduate of the University of Technology and Agriculture in Bydgoszcz, Poland. I followed my BSc with a MSc degree in Agriculture with specialization in Plant Protection. Since 2000 I have been working in the horticulture industry in UK. From May 2000 to 2008 I was an employee of Hugh Lowe Farms Ltd. After that, I occupied the Packhouse Manager position for one year at County Logistics Ltd, Food Handling Centre. Since March 2009 I am the Soft Fruit Production Manager at AC Goatham & Son.

Richard Edmed - Chairman
I have worked with my Family running our Fruit and Hop Farm in Horsmonden for the last 15 years growing apples, pears, plums, blackcurrants, gooseberries and hops on about 150 Ha. I previously studied for three years at Hadlow College studying fruit management and growing.

Scott Golding - Vice chairman
I have been at Mack since I was 17 (that’s 15 years). Worked in salad and stonefruit areas before a 3 year secondment to America. Came back in 2006 and now run the Berry and Avocado business areas at Mack.
Love football, golf, family and friends…

Thanks to the previous committee members for organising the Loire Valley trip, it was a good one, very informative as well as pleasant.
